Are you a songwriter looking to give your demo new life with custom drum tracks?
Let's face it. There have been amazing advancements in home recording technology. As a songwriter, you have countless drum loops, samples, and robot-drum emulators to choose from.
However, despite all of these advancements, they just can't provide you with that same artistry and natural feel you get from a real live drummer.
That's where I come in.
- I am a trained drummer who has worked in countless studios and live playing situations – I know how to drum for a record.
- I have studied drumset technique and even wrote my own book on the subject, which means I have the skills necessary to facilitate our ideas on the kit.
- I have education in composition, harmony, and orchestration – I know how to enhance your project with well-written drum parts that elevate your performance while giving your song room to grow and breathe as you add extra instruments.
My ALL DIGITAL Drum Part Process:
When combined with my natural feel, the ending result are drums that sound pretty darn close to an authentic kit – perfect drums for songwriter demos.
All Digital Drum Tracks for Your Song:
The greatest benefit of my process is the flexibility of the Midi medium I use for your demo.
I provide all of my clients with a mixed-down .aif stereo track with custom tailored drum sounds for your project. In addition, I send you the raw Midi files, which you can import into your recording software, enhance with your own plug-ins, or chop it up to suit your needs.
Tree Fort by Paul Finnegan
Paul came to me with this groovy jazz tune he had created using programmed drums. I really dug his guitar playing and wanted to compliment it with an open-jazzy feel on the kit. Check out the before and after versions.
Coping by Masceo Williams
Masceo provided me with just his guitar and vocal scratch tracks for this tune that moves right along. I wanted to give it an Indian-rock flavor but also stay out of the way for future instruments (notice how there isn't a bass part yet).
Happy by Masceo Williams
Another gem from songwriter Masceo who sent me this very raw scratch track to work with (you can hear him giving cues at the end.) I wanted to share Happy with you to hear the sound quality of the toms – one of the toughest things to get right in the studio.

Submitting your file:
Orders are processed through my company, Spirit and Groove®.
Upon payment approval, We will provide you with an email address to send your scratch file.
Scratch track: Your scratch track should include at the very minimum your vocals and rhythm guitar. In addition, I strongly suggest that you perform to a metronome and count the song in.
Take some time to record and submit a quality scratch track. I should be able to clearly hear your chord progressions, dynamics, and the hook of the song. The better the quality of your scratch track, the more I can get into your song and provide you with a well-orchestrated drum track that takes your performance to the next level!
Submit your file as a stereo mp3, mp4, or .aif format. Most software programs allow you to export or “bounce” your tracks in these formats.
If you have any questions or troubles, send an email to the address provided and I will attempt to help you out.
Track length: The $25 fee applies for tracks under 5 minutes. Longer performances will be pro-rated. We will let you know the additional cost before we proceed.
Changes: I will ask you to provide me with some direction in our initial email. Feel free to provide me with as much, or as little, direction as you would like. I listen to your songs with a “producer’s ear,” which means that I focus on your song and not how fancy my drumming should be. I keep it simple and purposely leave space for other instruments such as bass, rhythm guitars, additional vocals, and other instruments to fit in the mix.
If you are not happy with my initial product, please email me your suggested changes. The first round is on me. Additional changes that are not technical issues are $10 each. However, I reserve the right to charge more, less, or nothing at all depending on your needs, our working relationship, and the complexity of the project. Regardless of the outcome, the initial $25 fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
